Goulburn has had four Court Houses. The earliest of these was built 1830-32 and the second, designed by architect William Buchanan, in 1834. Their exact locations are unknown. The third Court House of 1849, designed by architect Mortimer Lewis and built by James Sinclair, fronts onto Sloane Street. The fourth and currently operating building designed by colonial architect James Barnet is located in Montague Street, opposite Belmore Park. It was opened on 14 October 1887.
