George Barber received a land grant near Marulan in 1821 which he named Glenrock. By 1826 he and his wife wife Isabella nee Hume, sister of explorer Hamilton Hume, were living there. As other settlers continued to move southward from Sydney, Glenrock, being on the main road, hosted many visitors. The current historical homestead was probably built in the early1840s. George was drowned in a flooded creek in 1844. In 1862, the house was sold to George J Morrice, one of whose sons still owned the property in 1944. In 1945 the government resumed Glenrock for soldier settlement. In 1964 Glenrock passed to new owners and restoration was underway at the time of its nomination for heritage listing in 1976.
