Man re-installing the stained glass windows on the St Saviour Cathedral in Goulburn, NSW

Ranken, Jackie (Photographer)19 June 1997

Works on stained glass windows undertaken in 1997.

The first Anglican church of St Saviour was built in Goulburn in 1839. It became the pro-cathedral for the Diocese of Goulburn in April 1864, when Bishop Mesac Thomas arrived to take charge of his diocese. The new Cathedral was designed by Edmund Blacket and construction commenced in 1874, around the old church. Except for the tower and spire, the Cathedral Church of St Saviour was completed in 1884. With the assistance of a Bicentennial grant, the belltower was completed in 1988 with eight bells installed. Two more were added in 1993.
