The Cricketers’ Arms Hotel was located beside the Town Hall Building in Auburn street. It was renamed the Criterion around 1890, then the Federal in 1898 in recognition of Australia’s upcoming Federation. Timothy O’Leary owned the Harp Hotel on the west side of Auburn street.
Both locations are mentioned in Miles Franklin’s Goulburn self-guided walking tour.
