The undertaking firm of R J Sidney Craig in Goulburn is the longest established Funeral Director business in New South Wales. It began with founder Robert Craig around 1837 when he opened his cabinet-making and undertaking business in Sloane Street Goulburn, enabling him to manufacture coffins. The original horse drawn hearses made way for motor hearses in the early years of World War I. The business remained in the Craig family, with descendant R J Sidney Craig operating it until his death in 1935. His widow then ran the business in conjunction with the Craig Estate, until 1946 when Kenneth Fenwick took over the management. After his death in 1972, Fenwick was followed by his partner Terry Crooks, and son John Crooks has continued the business until at least 2008.
