Like all of Australia, the Goulburn region has a rich convict history.

The following resources can help you trace your convict ancestors, from their origins in the UK all the way to Australia and Goulburn.

Inverary Convict Index

Inverary (near Bungonia) was a very early area of New South Wales and was the Police District that extended as far as Braidwood, Goulburn and surrounding areas. This Index has been compiled by Researcher Tom Bryant from Ann Smith’s Convicts of the Bungonia Region, and contains information on convicts sent to the Goulburn region.
