Goulburn Girl Guides [vertical file]

The first meeting of the Goulburn Girl Guides Association was held on 12 June 1923, with the local association registered on 12 November 1925. The first Brownie pack, St Saviours, opened in 1922. The first Guide Company, 1st St Saviours, opened in 1922. Both the St Saviour Brownies and Guides were the first NSW country units to open. Ranger Guides started in 1923 the first NSW Country. Mrs Darke who was involved with the Association from 1940 and District Commissioner from 1946 to 1962 was awarded the Long Service badge on 25 September 1961, the first to be awarded in NSW. When Lady Baden-Powell, Chief Guide of the World, visited Australia in 1947, she also visited Goulburn and 120 girls and leaders attended lunch with her at the Masonic Hall.

* History of Goulburn [Girl Guides] including group activities and events such as camps, hikes and jamborees, amended to 2001
