Books
Subject: This book contains the story of the lives of those who are remembered in the Church of St Edmund of the Parish of Gunning. Seventy two loved ones are remembered by family members or friends who have given gifts to the church in their memory. There are also 52 names of service men of two World Wars on the WW 1 Honour Roll in the chancel and the WW 2 memorial window. Of the 52 names, 25 were destined not to return to Australian soil at the end of hostilities. The book begins with the story of Robert Cartwright, who at the age of 67 years accepted the challenge to minister to a very large parish in southern New South Wales. Mr Cartwright was to serve the people for a period of eighteen years. He retired from the ordained ministry at the age of 85 years. The book ends with an account of twenty five young men of two world wars who sacrificed their lives in the cause of truth and freedom.
