Goulburn Mulwaree economic portrait : compared with south eastern NSW

Subject: This report examines economic activity in Goulburn Mulwaree using data from the 2006 and 2001 censuses, supplemented with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) data from the annula National Regional Profile, both published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The economic characteristics of Goulburn Mulwaree are compared with those across South Eastern NSW. This economic portrait starts by introducing the workfoce of Goulburn Mulwaree, since their characteristics provide the most detailed information available of Goulburn Mulwaree's economy. The second section examines the industries in Goulburn Mulwaree from the characteristics of the workforce. The third section looks at the nature of the businesses that make up these industries. The occupations of the workforce are examined in the fourth section, looking at the roles of the workforce - and the nature of local jobs - in broad and specific occupational groups. The fifth section gives more information about the workforce of Goulburn Mulwaree, looking at aspects such as qualifications, birthplaces, language skills, and incomes. The modes of transport that workers used to come to work are compared with those used by working residents going to work. The final section looks in more detail at the difference between the demand for labour, represented by the working population. (p.2).
