A map of Australian verse : the twentieth century

1977
Books
Subject: This book presents a feature map of the most important part of Australian poetic history. It is divided into fourteen parts, each with an introduction, a substantial selection of poems, a bibliography, and a careful selection of 'source material' of two kinds: extracts from writing by poets themselves, and extracts from writings by critics. This shows the poetic landscape in different lights and shades under changing climates of opinion. The editor has thus been able to choose firmly but give fair notice that other views are possible. The reader is encouraged and helped to explore the ground, but left free to make his own judgements. - Back cover.
