Subject: As in any community, schools were a central concern for the people of Crookwell, throught the 19th and 20th centuries and into today. The developing educational environment within the township of Crookwell mirrored the mainstream development of the education system in New South Wales, moving from one of control by churches and private institutions to one of state control and administration, while still in part maintaining the traditions of religious education. The development of both Crookwell Public School and St Mary's Catholic School serve as examples of the vibrant and distinct historical development of the New South Wales school system (Conclusion).
