Subject: Mary Gwendoline Shepherd (nee McDonald) was born in Sydney in 1907, a third generation Australia. She was a descendant of Glencoe McDonalds who settled near Picton in NSW in the 1830's. She was fiercely proud of her Scottish and Australian inheritance. Her love of Scottish culture and her interest in the history of her clan led her to join the NSW branch of the Clan Donald Association in its early days. Her continued support and energetic participation in the clan activities led her to being made Patroness of the Clan Association. Her death in 1987 typified her two inheritances, she was piped to her rest under the Australian gums that she loved so much...inside front cover.
