Books
Subject: This book epitomises the life and hardships experienced by the family of Friedrich Wilhelm Hampel, a clothmaker, and his wife Johanna Louise (nee Hoffman) as they leave their homeland of Prussia to begin a new life in Australia. Leaving with high hopes and a sure faith in God, their voyage is fraught with sadness. Leaving from the same town of Tirschtiegel, and good friends of the Hampel family, is the family of Carl Wilhelm Roehr, a shoemaker, and his wife Rosina Dorothea (nee Muller). Their lives too, are changed forever by this voyage. We see how the lives of these families become permanently entwined, and how the family lives and grows, supported by their strong Christain faith during the trials, hardships and the joys in their new land, Australia.
