Notes:
Source: Australian War Memorial."It is hard for us to image the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers of World War One - and their families and the communities who supported them. Throughout Australia, more than 416,000 men enlisted from a population of only 4.9 million. More than 61,000 were killed and 156,000 injured. It was a war in which the soldiers, their leaders and the general public were totally unprepared for the trauma and massive loss of life over four long years. Poignant memorials are to be found in the towns and villages of the electorate of Hume. The Collector Memorial reflects the sacrifice of so many rural communities: 44 men enlisted from of community of 208 people, with 13 killed in action" ... forward Angus Taylor MP, Member for Hume.Bibliography.
